Here's Why Some People Should be Forcibly Sterilized

For those that don't know, I work for Oreck Vacuums, and the last few months have been challenging, to say the least. Our corporate offices are in New Orleans, and our factory is in Long Beach, MS (right next to Gulfport). While our facilities are largely undamaged, our main problem has been a significant loss of personnel, especially in Long Beach. Right now, they are operating at about 60% capacity, which has resulted in some serious inventory shortages, as well as difficulties with processing orders and returns. Our customers have been, by and large, very understanding and supportive during this time. But every now and then, an incident happens that dashes any warm and fuzzy feelings I have about people in general. Like today.

This is a call I fielded from a deuch... er, customer today (I'm in italics):

"A few months ago, I ordered two of your air purifiers from the 800- number. Well, they don't work for s***. I want to return them to your store."

"Uh, well, I'm sorry sir, I can only take returns on merchandise that was purchased from this location. There is a return shipping label on the boxes you received. You need to call this 800- number to arrange a return..."

"Okay, listen to me. I've tried calling your g**damn 800 number about 50 million times. Every time I call they put me on hold, and they keep me on hold. I got better things to do than wait What the hell is wrong with you people? You don't want to hear from your customers after you get their money?!"

"Okay, sir, please listen to me for a moment. The number you are calling is in NEW ORLEANS. You need to be patient. They are still very understaffed. They are taking calls as quickly as..."

(the next part just floored me)

"Yeah, right. Tell me something. They got all these people down there looking for work. How's about you guys get off your asses and hire some of those people. Maybe there'd be less of them homeless people down there. That's a pretty bright idea, huh? How about you clowns get your act together so people like me aren't stuck on g**damn hold forever?!"

I'm stunned for a couple of seconds. Just as I start to tell the guy to go **** himself...

"You know what? Thanks for nothing! I guess I'll spend the rest of the morning on hold." Click.

So let's summarize. Hurricane Katrina killed 1400+ people, caused more than $100 billion in damages, and left an uncounted number of people homeless, with their lives destroyed.

BUT THE REAL TRAGEDY IS THE UNCOUNTED MINUTES THAT THIS WASTE OF SPERM IS STUCK ON HOLD.
